Dear Friends,
THE QUEST, painting exhibition by artist Upasana Mishra, was literally an open book of her spiritual foray towards embracing, accepting, surrendering and expressing her life’s spiritual journey.
Upasana took the point of embarkation of her journey from the source of the ‘River’, meandering through the various terrains, passing through bridges, forts and the Maya of man-made edifices, before joining and subsuming itself with the Sea.
The final abstract works describe her homecoming when the individual is finally immersed and united with the Universal Consciousness.
THE QUEST also takes us through a journey that culminates in the realisation that consciousness and the finite had sprung from ‘The Void’, the creative Nothingness.
Sutra dancers performed the Bharatanatyam repertoire: a slow Alarippu which delineates the divine geometry of the dancer’s body and next, the rare Tanjore Quartet invocation, Brahma Sandhi, evoking an auspicious beginning.
Guest of Honour, Soroptimist Dr Saradha Narayanan, summarised Upasana’s body of works in her eloquent speech and launched the exhibition with elegance and warmth which befitted the message of Upasana’s works.
Sutra.
