Our videographer Rabby Deyan observed celebrity Lite FM deejay, Aishah Sinclair at Sutra as she was videoed during her first ever exposure to a dose of Odissi.
The video program was to create awareness of the rich and diverse culture we have right in our backyard.
In the video that he took, Rabby captured the process of Aishah’s transformation as she submitted herself to the rigours of elaborate preparation of putting on the makeup, tie-ing the sari, headdress, jewelleries – the full works by Sutra’s experts, Geethika Sree, Rajavel & Tan Mei Mei.
Eventually, Aishah had an interesting candid interaction with Ramli Ibrahim himself, who instilled some Odissi discipline into Aishah and even introducing her to the art of ‘abhinaya’ or how to communicate ‘rasa’ (heightened emotional states) in the audience.
Aishah turned out to be an exemplary student of Odissi and we were mighty impressed!
