Hareen Loganathan undergoes his last rehearsal before performing his trial by fire.
A solo is an intense rite of passage that all Indian classical dancers submit to in order to grow stronger in mind, body and spirit.
From the young boy who was first introduced to Odissi at Sutra Dance Outreach Program at SJK (Tamil) Ladang Sg Choh nine years ago, to his present standing as an accomplished dancer, able to command the audiences’ attention, Hareen, a unique male Odissi dancer, has certainly come a long way.
The program is given a strong support through the specially conceived narrations by senior dancers of Sutra in order that the depth of meaning of bhakti or ‘devotion’ can be dramatically communicated to further enhance Hareen’s dance rendition.
