Rapturous Radhe! Radhe!

Two years in production, the World Gala Premiere of Radhe! Radhe! got off to a roaring start on the evening of 10/10/25 at the Temple of Fine Arts. So many elements came alive to mesmerise, many revolving around Tridhara — a concept of threesome.

Dance, music, paintings;
Classical, folk, tribal;
Gurus, performers, guests.

Radhe! Radhe! is the coming together of two great forces: Datuk Ramli Ibrahim of Sutra Dance Theatre, Malaysia, and Guru Gajendra Panda of Tridhara, Odisha, India.

This multi-sensory spectacle draws from the ancient artistic traditions of Ganjam, a district in Odisha once called Kalinga, which archaeological discoveries now reveal was long connected to the Malay world through the Bujang Valley.

Radhe! Radhe! is a two-act extravaganza of the prema leela of Krishna and the lady of his heart, Radha. The stage blazes with Sutra’s electrifying dancers, live singing and music, and evocative backdrop paintings by Bibhu Patnaik — brilliantly animated using technology — all drawn from Odisha’s artistic community.

Datuk Ramli has said that Rasa, the emotional state, is the highest form of human manifestation, and that for an artist, Rasa is supreme. Ramli himself is an artist supreme. His lifelong dedication to his art can only be described as bhakti of the highest order.

How can one not celebrate this man who has spent decades doggedly exploring and unearthing dying art forms in ancient regions of India — as with this latest spellbinding effort, Radhe! Radhe!?

There is only one way to show our appreciation. Watch it.
