Dear Friends,
Sutra had the privilege of performing at the Ernst & Young Annual Entrepreneur Award Celebration at The Majestic Hotel Ballroom on 7 December, 2023. The theme was ‘The Art of Entrepreneurship’ and those who were nominated and winners had not only to be the creme de la creme of their fields but must also have the passion, dedication, purpose and entrepreneurial knack to succeed and contribute to the nation, in their specialised area.
Dato’ Abdul Rauf Rashid and Mr Philip Rao, Managing Partners of EY had continued a tradition of EY as a catalyst in the national and international PR effort to recognise and promote the best of Malaysian creative business talents, and to bring them to national and international attention.
The Guest of Honour, Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry Malaysia, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz spoke of the various government efforts & strategies to encourage business development, enhancing the economy.
In the realm of dance, the entrepreneurial spirit is also ever-present. Sutra Foundation identifies opportunities to innovate and create a better Malaysia through our productions and we take risks by exploring new choreographic style areas. We also endeavour to push the boundaries of tradition, realizing our vision with courage and perseverance. We demonstrate resilience by overcoming obstacles, adapting to changes, and fulfilling our commitment to preserving and promoting the nation’s diverse cultural heritage.
But it doesn’t stop there, we too understand the power of purpose in our performances using dance as a medium to convey narratives that transcend language and cultural barriers.
Sutra performed the Suryastaka (Odissi) – a homage to Surya, the Sun.
From ancient times, Surya is regarded as a visible deity. Surya is the Dispeller of Darkness/Ignorance, able to remove delusion and flawed thinking, bringing the devotees – entrepreneurs., politicians and audience alike, to true liberation!
