Dear Friends,
Aishwarya Aravind rose to the occasion to give KL audience an impeccable recital of Bharatanatyam. True to the Kalakshetra tradition, Aishwarya gave her all – body, mind and spirit where from the challenging Alarippu (Mishra Triputa Taalam) choreographed by Shri Sheejith Krishna right to the Varnam (Maha Tripura Sundari, Shivaranjani ragam) of composer, Dr Madurai Muralidharan, she belted the adavus and presented a dignified abhinaya without the frills that now cluttered most Bharatanatyam recital.
Aishwarya is definitely a connoisseur’s choice and not for the ‘Tik Tok’ generation.
Her disciples Pavithira, Isshaa, Abilaasha and Tariyshna, though still raw, demonstrated their potential and dedication. Given a few more years, they have the potential to develop into good dancers. The well conceived group composition on Asamyuktha Hasta Viniyoga Pradashanam was compelling as well as educational.
Her male disciple Vimal and partner performing in a difficult varnam, was a good match for a composition which was full of intricate footworks. Both are of compact size to assail the fast thirmanams which Aishwarya had choreographed modeled on herself as a virtuosic dancer. Vimal, who is a doctor, just needed to acquire a little more relaxed grace with maturity, that in good time he will be a dancer to watch for.
Aishwarya was fortunate that the weather was on her side that she was able to dance her evocative Padam (Kana Vendum Laksham Kangal), Keertanam (Devi Ganga) and the scintillating Thillana (Hindolam Kandaekam) outside where the atmosphere under the stars was simply breathtaking.
It was reaffirming to watch good Bharatanatyam from outside Kuala Lumpur alive and well, as we see so little of it.
We wish Aishwarya Aravind the very best for her future in bringing her art and teaching to the youths outside Kuala Lumpur.
Sutra.
