Dear Friends,
On the 9th and last day of Navratri, Sutra performed for the Malaysian Bengalee Association (MBA) at the Geetha Ashram, KL.
The 9th day, represented the completion of the Navadurga cycle, bestowing spiritual powers and blessings – a significant day for the Bengalees. Members of the MBA came in full force; the altar of Durga was resplendent in blue; the pujari conducted his puja with great pomp & flourish amidst clangings of brass gongs, tittinabulations of bells and stately conch.
Devotees came in their best clothes and the men looked splendid in their traditional dhotis.
Sutra dancers performed works dedicated to The Goddess in both Odissi and Bharatanatyam.
The Goddess represents the integration of all energies. The kundalini has now risen fully and unites with the cosmic consciousness. On this day She is believed to possess and will bestow special powers and blessings.
The Goddess is the embodiment of Auspiciousness, simultaneously the power of Good who is able to annihilate the powerful & evil demon Mahishasura.
The audience caught glimpses of the magnificent energy of The Goddess through the performance of Sutra dancers. The dances depicted the celebration of the final triumph of good over evil; a just culmination to Navarathri,
The audience, mesmerised by the direct energy transmitted through Dance to them, burst into raptures.
Vijayadasami, a more meditative homage to the Guru, will then take place the next day.
