The last performance at Nagahama, marked the end of a successful Japan tour of Jaya Ram.
Seven members of Sutra have just left Japan early this morning to return to Malaysia leaving the rest (6 dancers) to engage in 4 other performances of ‘Invitation to Odissi’.
We have received superlative reactions from all sides of Jaya Ram – from those who have previously seen Odissi and also from those who have never seen Indian classical dance.
Certainly, Jaya Ram has continued to present the constructive and positive face of cultural diplomacy. Dance continues the legacy of transcending national barrier to express the inclusivity and beautiful potential of sharing our cultural heritages in this Spaceship Earth – this, I may add, is more enlivening than engaging in the present depressing and fatiguing news of atrocities of wars presently plaguing our cherished world.
