Dear Friends,

Guardian Spirits, exhibition of paintings by Odia visual artist, Helen Brahma was marvellously received by Kuala Lumpur aficionados of visual arts. It was gallantly officiated by HE Shri BN Reddy, High Commissioner of India to Malaysia.

Helen and artist Sovan Kumar came to Kuala Lumpur for the first time and interacted easily with all of us and were ready to share their knowledge and art; they even gave hands-on clay workshops in Klang.

The concept behind GUARDIAN SPIRITS was unique as well as effective and hit home with Malaysians especially when Kuala Lumpur was having several events celebrating traditional textiles and fabrics of the Malay world. Officially, India & Malaysia were celebrating 65 years of diplomatic relations. At the same time, Sutra Foundation was also able to preview JAYA RAM, their latest Odissi production, which later also premiered with success.

So, the exhibition was timely and relevant and all of us felt blessed with all these successfully held events that celebrated the contemporary cultural link between Malaysia and India.

Thank you Helen, Sovan & their daughter Bumi for sharing your creative energy and art with Malaysians.
