Art by Nature, Art by Man, a photography exhibition by Eric Peris and Choy Khye Fatt, 13 Dec 2025 was graced by Tan Sri Johan Jaaffar, former Chairman of the NST Group (where Eric Peris was photo-editor) as the  Guest of Honour.

For the two photographers, Nature is truly inspirational and inspiring.

Art bridges the gap of understanding and the appreciation of Nature and humanity. Human’s  attempt to dominate Nature is at once futile and if not tempered will wisdom and restraint, will eventually lead to Man’s eventual perfidy.

The event was a gathering of friends and there was a palpable air of positivity and camaraderie of kindred spirits.

Tan Sri Johan Jaaffar gave an excellent summary of the ‘art of Seeing’ where  Photography becomes an artform.

TS Johan’s speech further elucidated the gift of sharing of the creative efforts of the two veteran photographers – KF Choy’s enigmatic techniques of layering of textures & nuances to his works; Eric’s Zen-like profoundness simplicity of portraying everyday Nature that most overlook and take for granted.

Art by Nature, Art by Man was the last of Sutra Gallery’s impressive round of exhibitions for 2025.

Sutra’s last production for 2025 will be its Odissi performance ‘Rich Encounters’ at Debadhara’s Guru Debaprasad Festival in New Delhi (26 Dec, Habitat Centre) & International Odissi Dance Festival, Bhubaneswar (28 & 29 Dec, 2025 Rabindra Mandap).

Hope to see some of you there!
