Dear Friends,From Alarippu to Moksha 2014 ended on a high note of celebration on cool and breezy evening. The day started with Bhairava Puja performed as a special puja at the Subramaniar Temple, Kuala Selangor. This turned out to be a good omen for us with throngs of devotees who later were also able to partake in our dance offerings.
Padma Nrityalaya, Seremban( Artistic Director: Vinosree Shankar) presented her repertoire and we were treated with a sumptious repertoire mostly garnered and inspired from the legendary dancer, Padma Subramaniam who is Vinosree’s dance mentor and guru. The dances were refreshing in its aesthetic treatment of both nritta and nritya.  They bore the definite stamp of the Padma Subramaniam style especially with the last two exciting works – the Karavur Thevar Thiruvisaippa and Sandhya Tandavam. My favourite, however, was the Sri Vignarajam Bhaje danced by 5 Ganesha-looking girls to the catchy tune of this ever-green kirthanam. Audience had smiles on their faces as they could virtually see Ganesha dancing before their eyes.
Datuk Dr Jeyaindran and his lovely wife, Datin Sunita Rajakumar of Yayasan MyNadi (who first spearheaded the Outreach Programs) were felicitated. It was also Datuk Dr Jeya’s birthday. Mr Nantha Kumar, who was the major individual sponsor, came for all the three nights!
Sutra Dance Theatre took on the second half with the full force of its Outreach-programs. There was simply a massive contingent of young talents who flooded the temple stage and wooed the audience with their sheer numbers with their beautiful and simple make-up. It was truly reaffirming to experience the sight of youths being seriously groomed to the rigours of dance. Who knows where this experience will take them! Lastly, Sutra Foundation would like to express its gratitude to the Committee of the Subramaiar Temple of Kuala Selangor for their generosity and full cooperation to make this a succesful and wonderful event.
Mission Accomplished – Salam, Peace, Om-Shanti
