Dear Friends,
You are invited to Eric Peris’ 45th solo photography exhibition, ‘Fields of Memory’ which will be officiated by Saudara Asri Ghafar.
Eric Peris needs no introduction, having spent more than 6 decades as a professional photographer in Malaysia. He is regarded as the grand master of Malaysia Modern Photography.
Eric owes his artistic direction to his family to whom he has dedicated this present exhibition. His father was an established royal artist of Johor, his mother was his muse and the guiding light of his creativity. His sister encouraged him to explore Nature and gardens.
Eric’s photography is inspired by a deep Buddhist awareness that Life is Maya (Illusion) and Transient. Power, position and wealth turn to dust with time.
His camera becomes a monk’s alms bowl for Nature to fill and offer him gifts of beauty for that day.
At 86 years, Eric Peris life’s work continues to this day. With 45 exhibitions to his credit, Eric is undeniably the most prolific photographer in Malaysia with unmatched consistency and quality of work.
Eric has had more than 22 solo exhibitions presented at Sutra Gallery, curated by Sutra’s Trustee, Sivarajah Natarajan.
