Dear Friends,

Sutra’s event at KamaRia was a celebration of positivity and affirmation for Arts & Culture in Malaysia.

Artists of SPEKTRA arrived first and were delighted that the Second Flush of their exhibition ‘Cosmic Connections’ looked even better on the cloistered walls of KamaRia Gallery.
Sexy saxaphone refrains from KoolSkool Duo played by Aznaff, soon filled the balmy evening air.

For a production that is about to embark on a major Malaysia tour (without a major funding confirmed), Ramli Ibrahim was cool and did not display any sign of trepidation as he kicked off the evening with the signature song, ‘As Time Goes By’, made famous by the film Casablanca.

Guests were transported to an enchanted evening, consumed by visual, aural and oral (complementary of Laksha) treat.

New members of Friends of Sutra were registered; guests brought by artists of SPEKTRA were suitably impressed; supporters of Sutras felt they were part of the intense creativity generated by Sutra’s relentless of artistic endeavours. It was mission accomplished!

YAM Tunku Zain, Shaik Rizal (Chairman, The National Gallery), Fashion Designer Ridzuan Bohari stayed till the end. Sutra was happy to welcome Belle Sisoski, a High-powered Sarawakian composer, musician, performer to KamaRia – definitely a
Gen-Z favourite who is currently exporting indigenous music sounds of Borneo to the international stratosphere.

The star of the evening was singer Noryn Aziz who brought the evening to its destined height, belting several songs from her coming showcase concert, ‘This is Noryn Aziz’ (19 Sept, 2025) to be staged at the DBKL Auditorium, just after Meniti Cakerawala (25, 26 & 27 July, 2025).

If I were you, dear friends, I’d reserve seats for both productions – you might need a bit of a moral lift judging that Nick Adams, Trump’s new US ambassador will soon descend on us!
(Or shall we invite him?)

Ramli
