Jaya Ram, Sutra Foundation’s major odissi production for this year, will have its world premiere on 21 September and continues till 25 September, 2022 at KLPaC, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Jaya Ram, a collaboration with Guru Gajendra Panda, explores and features the myth of Rama, in a full odissi program. The video shows the making of Jaya Ram as Guru Gajendra Panda rehearses Sutra dancers to prepare them for this outstanding odissi work.
Jaya Ram is a continuation of Sutra’s love-story with the culture-rich Ganjam district, where Sutra had based one of its most successful productions, GANJAM (2015).
Jaya Ram, this time examines the potential of infusing elements of Ram Leela and Rama Natakam, folk theatre genres of South Odisha, into the classical odissi repertoire.Jaya Ram, a spectacular odissi production with live music, will take on an India tour after the Malaysian premiere.Definitely, a dance extravaganza not to be missed.Stay tuned for more updates!
