Unending Love (Odissi) by senior Sutra dancers Nishah Devi, Harenthiran and Vickneshwaran ended the Dancing Sutra Series of Odissi in great style.
The 3-day studio performances were hugely appreciated by audiences who were transported to the higher realm of art where the mundanity of everyday life was left, for a time, on the wayside.
The three senior dancers of Sutra demonstrated their dedication, maturity and grasp of their art in the most admirable manner – considering also that they had just finished an exhaustive season of Jaya Ram just the week before their own demanding performance.
The Dancing Sutra studio series has proven to be a wonderful laboratory where Sutra dancers are able to develop and hone their talents in a friendly and conducive setting. We were encouraged to notice some audiences who had made it to all the six studio series, convincing us that we have now diehard fans of Odissi!
Our last Dancing Sutra performance will feature bharatanatyam before we prepare for Navarathri and Sutra’s Japan tour in October.
