To the organiser – thank you for trying but we should have advised you not to bother trying.
The cancellation has reminded me of another occasion more than 3 decades ago of the end-of-year fashion exposition organised by the late UitM designer & director of the Fashion Dept, Dr Najib Nor. Even this co-curriculum activity of the Dept was deemed ‘unsuitable’ and cancelled ‘oleh sebab2 tertentu’. Nothing has changed in the system and that’s why we are where we are.
This has been going on for decades. The Pusat Islam is the moral policing/vigilante body for many of the govt and even quasi-government institutions. They represent the effective arm of Jakim to control/define what is permitted to be ‘fed’ to the populist/students/staff etc. An Islamic/fascist body, controlled by little Nepoleons, it filters the level of intelligence and what the rakyat/students/audience can endeavour to be exposed or strive to learn from.
As this has been effectively going on for decades it has by now effectively shackled the mentality of a second generation civil servants, lecturers, city-councillors and most sadly, Islamic youths.
By the time they realise what has happened, they are completely indoctrinated, stifled and ensconced in deep state, and now got a reality check in the form of a raging pandemic to deal with. They are now stumped frozen with the ineffectiveness of the system and hopelessness of it all. Too many mentally damaged souls to deal with, only a total reset from top to bottom can make a difference.
