Sutra Foundation is proud to be associated with the works of one of the most compelling figurative artists of South India – AV Ilango. Ilango was first known to Sivarajah Natarajan, Sutra’s curator, through the former’s illustration of Silapadikaram, more than a decade ago. Since then Ilango has had a very intimate connection with Sutra, especially through the Indian classical dance style of Odissi. Having an insider knowledge of dance and theatre has given Ilango the edge to illustrate Silapadikaram, the great seminal epic of South India with his distinctive colour, drama and flavour.
Dancers, Visual artists and scholars – don’t miss the opportunity to partake in this integrated vision of literature, visual and performing arts!
