Guru Meera Das now stands proud (together with her Gunjan Academy,Cuttack) as a highly creative dance-maker and guru of Odissi. Meera Ji was one of the earliest dancers to be inducted when the Odissi Research Centre was first established in Bhubaneswar in the 90’s. Therefore, she was groomed by two major Odissi pioneers, Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra and Kum Kum Mohanty and was a witness to the consolidation of Odissi’s teaching methodology and repertoire. Meera is here to share the story of her journey and I think it is vital for us in Kuala Lumpur to hear these stories and of the people that had made it happen.
